$247,495 Federal Grant

Tiberi says Mifflin Township Division of Fire will receive $247,495 federal grant ...

The Mifflin Township Division of Fire will receive a federal assistance grant to Firefighters grant totaling $247,495, Congressman Pat Tiberi has announced.

“This money will allow firefighters in a growing area of eastern Franklin County to better serve their community,” said Tiberi. “The Division of Fire serves both Mifflin Township and Gahanna, and has mutual aid agreements with surrounding areas.”

The federal money will provide for a major upgrade of the Division’s communications capabilities. First, it will fund the purchase of equipment that will allow better communications with neighboring jurisdictions during emergency situations. In addition, the money will provide new capabilities for firefighters en route to or on the scene of an emergency, to access databases providing specific information about the particular situation they face.

Tiberi said the grant for the Mifflin Township Division of Fire was one of seven approved for fire departments in Ohio. The grant program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security.
