Fire Prevention is headed by David A. Brizius, Fire Prevention
Officer, Educator, and Investigator for Mifflin Township and for Gahanna,
a position
he has held
for more than 18 years. As a professional magician, he uses his talents to
teach fire safety in Gahanna area schools and businesses. He performs more
than 200 fire safety programs annually.
David joined the Fire Department a day after his 18th birthday in 1974 as
a volunteer. He became full-time in 1979, became a paramedic in 1980, and was
promoted to the Fire Prevention Bureau in 1985.
David is a graduate of Hocking College with a degree in Fire Science Management.
He and his wife Tina run C.A.M.P. (Constructing Assured & Motivated People),
a youth camp. He helped form and acted as the adult advisor & instructor to
the Mifflin Township Fire Explorers Post 2131.
