OverviewMifflin Township is a community of approximately 4,800 people, located in the northeastern portion of Franklin County, Ohio. It is bordered by the cities of Gahanna and Columbus. Your township government consists of three trustees and a township clerk-treasurer, who are each elected for 4-year terms. The terms are staggered, so that each two years, either one trustee and the clerk or two trustees are elected. The Board of Trustees is the overall governing body of the Township. The decide issues of Township policy and are responsible for all expenditures of Township funds. Unlike cities and villages in Ohio, townships do not have the authority to pass laws or to offer basic services. The authority of township government is limited to only those specific duties that are delegated by state law. Many services commonly associated with local government are under the legal jurisdiction of the county and state government. Although they have not direct legal authority over these services, Township officials can act as community spokesmen, while bringing local problems to the attention of higher officials and assisting with solutions to problems. Your Township officials are always available to assist citizens with problems dealing with the Township, county, and state. Regular trustee meetings are held at 6:30p on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Township meeting room. Special and/or staff meetings are held as needed, also in the Township meeting room. The Township administrative building is located at 155 Olde Ridenour Road, Gahanna OH 43909, 614-471-4494. The office hours are 8:00a to 4:30p, Monday through Friday. Township offices also include the police department, road department, and cemetery office.
